Cross Country

Experience the fun of comparing PB”s and the sense of achievement.

Get fitter and be a good role model, kids love seeing mum and dad run.

The sport is Cross-Country.

Run by Lilydale Yarra Ranges LAC

Your summer fees already cover the  season, only cost is $1 per child and $2 per adult to cover costs and trophies.

Season starts 14^th April at Morrison reserve be there at 8.45am.

We also run at Lilydale lake and Coldstream.

All ages and distances catered for.

Well who would have thought we would get 5 beautiful mornings in a row, really makes it a pleasure to get out of bed on a Saturday morning. Fantastic to have the wonderful people from Cockatoo who are friendly and great fun, they will also be running with us on the following dates 26th May, 9th June and 30th June, so we look forward to that. This week we are back to Marg Lewis Reserve, keep running and see you at 8.45am,cheers.

The 2012 State Cross Country Championships will be held at Lardner Park, Lardner (Warragul) on Sunday August 5th, 2012

Cross Country is our winter competition where athletes run in undulating terrain at a selected Venue!

This event is a distance running event for athletes in our Under 7 to Under 15 age groups - both boys and girls. 

• Championship Events apply only to the U9-U15 age groups.
• The 2012 'Invitational Race' is open to U7/U8 registered athletes only- no entries will be accepted for the U6 age group. **

Athletes run as individuals but can make up a team. Team medals are awarded to the first three competitors that cross the finish line; a Centre must have three athletes competing in the same age group and from the same Centre.

The distances the age groups run depend on the age group:

Under 7 - Under 8     1000m

Under 9 - Under 10    1500m

Under 11 - Under 12    2000m

Under 13 - Under 15    3000m

Although a heavier track it was a stunning morning for earning chocolate frogs, well done to everyone this week. Also thank you so much for all the people who help us each week, you know who you are, we really do appreciate it. Cross Country returns to Morrison Reserve this week and for the first time this season we are running for pb's.
Will you catch one of the elusive frogs beyond the finish line on this challenging course?

Another fantastic morning for running (enjoy it while it lasts),  the Marg Lewis course is truly beautiful and not too challenging, so some fantastic times were achieved, well done all.  This week we are back to Morrison Reserve and the opportunity to obtain a PB is within reach, so train hard this week!

Congratulations to all 27 athletes that made it to the State Championship held recently in Bendigo.
Special mention to the following five athletes who won medals :- Ryan Patterson - 3 GOLD,
Georgia Laven - 2 GOLD,  Brayden Woolridge - 2 GOLD,  Corey Lee - 1 GOLD, 1 SILVER,

Well another perfect morning for a run, if this keeps up we will be too spoilt to run in the wet weather.  In all seriousness it is a great feeling spending time blowing off some energy with wonderful friendly people, a few of us found Lilydale harder than Morrison last week.   This weekend we head to Coldstream where the course remains the same as last season can't guarantee the weather though. Margaret  Lewis reserve is looking a picture so enjoy this week see you at 8.45am Sat, cheers.

Well what a perfect start to the cross country season, the weather was a treat and the attendance was wonderful, well done to everyone . The course was tough but fair i didn't hear anyone other than myself cursing it, fantastic design by Jed Thrall. also thank you to all the helpers we really appreciate it. Firstly, if passing, stop and have a look at the track - the rubber started to go down last week and as long as the weather holds it should continue this week.

Presentation Night
Date: Friday April 13th from 6pm
Cost: $15 per family payable at the door.
DJ and entertainment provided. BYO drinks and food.
Theme: Friday the 13th, is it unlucky or scary for you?
Kids, dress to impress and bring those good luck charms along. Will a black cat cross your path, will you step on a crack or walk under a ladder, did you break a mirror? Load up with lucky shamrocks, horse shoes and rabbits feet to protect you.
Venue: St Patrick Parish Hall, Jones Street, Lilydale
Trophies and awards for all athletes who have met the 50% attendance requirement.
Come along and enjoy the evening and help us celebrate a great season of athletics.

Cross Country starts at Morrison Reserve on Saturday April 14th.
All Committee Positions are vacant for Nominations. See information previously sent re all positions and our AGM. The AGM will be held in conjunction with our Presentation night. 

Reminder that our FINAL WEEK OF COMPETITION is this Friday  night at Croydon usual time and is a PB NIGHT. Remember ONLY 4 EVENTS NO MORE but less if you choose.

This Friday March 2nd is our centre Multi Event.
For those who don't know what a multi event is: it is a points scoring competition similar to the Decathalon or Heptathalon at the Olympics. The main difference is that we have only 5 events in our program. We use a points system that has been developed for the world youth event to score your performance in each event. This is the same system that is used by LAVic in their state multi competition (we have also adapted the figures to include our U/6 to U/8 athletes).
All athletes compete in 100m, Long Jump, Discus, Hurdles (60m U/6-U/8, 80-100m U/9-U/15), and a distance event (U/6=200m, U/7=300m, U/8=400m, everyone else has 800m).
The overall results are then calculated and awards will be made at presentation night.
Because everyone needs to do discus and there is only one cage, I am asking all athletes in the U/11-U/15 age group to try and arrive by 4.30 to do discus. If you can not manage to get there early, you will have a chance to complete your discus at event 5.
Good luck to everybody and hopefully the rain holds off for us.

Just a Reminder that this is a normal centre competition back at Croydon Athletics Track, on Friday night ( 24 February 2012) and its week 14. Make sure your there about 4:30 PM for Javelin U12's and 4:45 PM for everyone else. Hope to see you down there!

Just a Reminder that there in no centre competition this weekend (18 & 19 February 2012) It is Region Track and Field for those who are competiting.

Athletics this week is Week 12. This Friday night starting from 4:30 for Javelin for under 11's.

Reminder that due to Australia Day Training will be held on Tuesday (24 January 2012) this week.
Especially important for those athletes running at State Relays this Saturday.
Information for relay athletes and their parents will be sent out shortly.

There is no Centre athletics this weekend (27-29 January 2012).
