Please
find attached the summary sheets for the Education & Development programs for
this coming season. These courses, clinics and seminars will be open for
registrations over the coming weeks. With
the Starters seminars commencing early August, these will be open for
registrations in the next few days. All
programs require registration via the online system on our website,
www.lavic.com.au or
www.athsvic.org.au. On the homepage
there is an Education & Training tab, this opens to 3 options, Athletes,
Coaching & Officials. From here you can select the relevant area and
proceed to the register. Alternatively there is a shortcut button (as
shown) on the homepage which opens directly into the 3 areas. A
major change this season is the timing of the U11 Skills clinic. This has
shifted from early January to late September. The focus of this clinic is
technique and it was decided to start the athletes off in the new season
correctly, rather than adjust things late in the season. As a result of
this change, we will be directly emailing the athletes inviting them to register
for the clinic. The clinic is only open to the new U11’s for the 2011-2012
season, not the current U11’s. The same applies for the McDonald’s skills
clinics, age groups are taken as of the 2011-2012 season. All of this is
advised on the registration form online. Thanks
and good luck with your planning and preparation leading into the new season.
Hi Coaches
Well another cross country season has been run and to say
it was a real test for our athletes would be an understatement. Firstly the
opening race of the season at Morrison reserve had to be changed
due to works and then the heavens opened up for the remainder of the
season, we had some extremely damp courses but it was so much fun and brought us
all together, helping each other thru it .
As a club we travelled to Cockatoo with a large contingent of families to conquer the Hills Challenge and that we did. On what was a perfect cross country course our runners showed an enormous spirit and determination to give their all, most backing up for two races, some three, we really are very lucky to have such great people in our club. It was great to have the support of the spectators and other runners, it really makes a difference and helps get us over the line. The other thing that was wonderful was the sight of our kids playing ball games all together at the end of the day , our youngest to our eldest happily playing, not in front of a tv or computer. A big thank-you to the team at Cockatoo who ran a magnificent day . We love coming to your special event, and look forward to next years.
The EMR Cross Country Championships were run at Doncaster on Sunday 31 July. Our athletes enjoyed the challenging course and all should be proud of their achievements. Congratulations to the following medallists: U6 Girls: Gold - Madeliene Laven, Team Bronze - Madeliene Laven, Tayla Evans, Olivia Finch U7 Girls: Silver - Mia Strudely U8 Girls: Gold - Georgia Laven U10 Girls: Team Bronze - Tess Patterson, Rickeylee Brown, Lee Taylor U11 Boys: Team Silver - Braden Taeuber, Connor Thrall, James Laven U13 Boys: Gold - Ryan Patterson U14 Boys: Gold - Lachlan Rampton, Bronze - Rohan Rampton, Team Gold - Lachlan Rampton, Rohan Rampton 3rd, Daniel Blake U15 Boys: Gold - Lucas Taylor Thanks to everybody for doing their duties, especially our Hare - Josh Patterson, our Tortoises - Andrew Duncan and Hank deHaan and our Team Manager for the day - Kimm Noonan. A very solid effort all around.
Exciting times at LYRLAC right now with the release of our brand new web site. Make a note of our web address for future reference or better still put us in your 'Favourites' list.
